American Hero Initiative is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping disabled veterans with home and auto repairs.
The assistance amount from the American Hero Initiative will depend on the available funding at the time. As we grow, we aim to expand this assistance further.
You will fill out an application and submit the necessary documents (DD-214, proof of service-connected disability; also, depending on funding availability we may also need income documents). We will decide if your desired repair is necessary for healthy living and approve or deny your request. If approved we will choose local contractors or repair-persons to get a quote. From there, we will determine how much we can help with. You will then decide if you want the repairs done; if you do then you must pay the contractor your portion of the repair cost first. Once we confirm the repair is done and your portion has been covered we will issue payment for the remainder of the cost directly to the worker.
